Our work ensured that the ambitious sustainability goals—including the performance of the collective geothermal energy system—were met through precision placement of thermal and acoustic insulation layers. This expertise guarantees optimal energy efficiency and superior living comfort, crucial factors for modern developments.

Van Marcke
Van Marcke Group is developing Project Kolenkaai, featuring low-energy apartments, houses, commercial units, and generous landscaped areas.
Set to become Bruges’ most sustainable building, it integrates the latest technologies, including heating and passive cooling via a heat grid and heat pumps powered by a Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES) system.
A central heat pump provides both heating and passive cooling, while each apartment can control its own settings through intuitive wireless controls. A distribution station – steady at 52°C - ensures efficient, reliable, and space-saving heat delivery.
The project brings together Van Marcke’s full expertise in Engineering, Prefab, ESCO and customer support.
